While the stay is in effect, Texas should take steps to deport every single illegal criminal in the state as quickly as possible.

Curb your enthusiasm about the Texas Secession, friend. The bill is just to officially see how many Texans are open to the discussion about seceding from the union.

How do I know this?

I read HB01359 to find out what was really in it.

Friend_of_John_Galt 23 points ago +23 / -0

That's still a great thing for the whole country. If Texans come out in force that might put the right pressure on SCOTUS to hear a fraud case and review evidence.

Overton window.

The country is gone. Let everyone get used to that idea. Why should Texas and the rest of America be ruled by the whim of corrupt bureaucrats in Philly, Atlanta, and Detroit?

1
sometimescanbefunny 1 point ago +1 / -0

It's decades beyond time that the right pushes back on the Overton window. Tired of having the libbies being the only ones pushing.

nenorpg 7 points ago +7 / -0

Curb my enthusiasm? We should be more enthusiastic about this. Don't take no for an answer.

You are missing the civil war. The south 1000% had the right to secede under Lincoln. The North didnt allow it. Any secessionist will face the same challenge. They would have to win a very difficult inevitable unconstitutional war.

2
SRK_Tiberious 2 points ago +2 / -0

Thing is, Lincoln actually had some balls and was able to fight. These faggots can't even handle the recoil of even the smallest handgun. I wouldn't worry too much about secession, and even if they sent the military, that would just neutralize itself as they in-fight.

The problem isn't just D.C. New York, California, and other states are also cancerous trash that should be excised.

I will be voting for secession. If you love what America once stood for you are welcome to join me.

kogar 10 points ago +10 / -0

Texan here. Keep in mind it’s just an HR (one of thousands) that will go to committee. Unfortunately, I don’t have much faith that it will get in front of the full lege. I can guarantee you most of the politicians know they will kill their funds for re-election if they piss off their national party leadership.

The real point is that it forces the conversation at an official level, and it’s possible that other states will join in the discussion.

Bottom line is: Texas will NOT tolerate 1A or 2A (or any other part of the constitution) to be trampled on. We’re done giving ground.

The rules are very simple.

People we don't like ask us to surrender things.

We shoot a cannon at them. No matter what.

Happens all the time. No big deal.

Representative Biedermann and his wife Barbi live in Fredericksburg and attend Oakhills church. They have seven daughters and eight grandchildren.

Based.

OP is wrong though. The TEXIT bill still needs to pass the State Legislature for the citizens to vote. It has just been introduced.

content-alphabet 2 points ago +2 / -0

Thank you! I don’t understand why people keep saying it’s coming to the ballot box yet

2

Hello fellow Texas cowpoke neighbors.

2
DontApologize 2 points ago +3 / -1

It's too early to secede anyway. You want to wait till things are bad. Wait until after Biden's HR1 passes, Biden doubles capital gain tax, Biden's wealth tax, Biden's new income tax for people over 400k. Gas hits $6 in Texas. We go to War in Syria with troops from IEDs..

Then succession will happen. Trump made things too good - people forgot what happens when leftists rule.

7
FreedomFromGovt 7 points ago +7 / -0

The flip side of this coin is that waiting too long will result in people who've forgotten what winning feels like and simply accept the "new normal" out of demoralization.

3
Turtleavacado 3 points ago +3 / -0

The Deep State Dems STOLE the election. How in hell is it too early to secede?

2
FreedomFromGovt 2 points ago +2 / -0

My spouse and I moved from California to Texas in 1989 because, even then, we could see the hard-left handwriting on the wall.

1
BigAmericanParty 1 point ago +1 / -0

Unless it comes to masks, and closed small businesses. Otherwise, they're totally not playing at all, not even a little bit.

1
Hussar 1 point ago +1 / -0

The bill isn't as awesome as I thought it might be (the referendum would merely set up a committee to look at issues pertaining to secession, and doing so would probably still need to establish more comittees and hold more referendums), but the idea of splitting from this circus of a country becomes more appetizing to me every day.

1

Godspeed Texas

1
Fabius 1 point ago +1 / -0

They should absolutely secede.

1
insertia 1 point ago +1 / -0

It is handy to leftists, if texas will leave there will be noone to defend the US in its current (or past) form from loonel leftists. They should threat and use as leverage, but not go there.

1
DemonicSoap 1 point ago +2 / -1

While I fully support secession, I am extremely worried that Texas leaving would ultimately make America a hell of a lot worse with liberal super majorities in the house and Senate the only option would basically be for other states to secede and join the republic of Texas.

2
Luke7137 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yes we will lose a red state and probably be fucked for every future election
