They got caught in the open with nothing to cover their retreat. They were literally throwing everything at them that they could in the hopes that one of these Hail Marys would succeed.

One should remember that this is a blue state and a blue city. It is the New York Time’s old stomping grounds and they are bound to have connections. The Pacific Northwest is a great example of how blue judges will let blue criminals off of the hook, even when the people have them dead-to-rights. I remain hopeful but not optimistic for their case.
