NewPipe does not use any Google framework libraries, or the YouTube API. It only parses the website in order to gain the information it needs. Therefore this app can be used on devices without Google Services installed. Also, you don't need a YouTube account to use NewPipe, and it's FLOSS.
It's not in the app store.....just available on newpipe dot net. Is it safe to down load even though it's not on the app store ( is that our goal... to stop using the app store?) Sorry I'm not to tech savvy
No not in the app store it's an open source app. So u can check the code. But yeah it's safe. On the main page there's a download link. 4.4 i believe. Just download my get a warning ignore. Then open it. Might have to allow install 3rd party apps. Just hit ok . And install. It's a very clean app no tracking nothing.
Feel free to copy and paste and repost it. I would repost it but don't want to be considered a spammer. IMHO it's a great app. Haven't seen a youtube ad in months. And even installed it on my fire tv stick works like a charm

@Ssoul, I'm enjoying that app so far except it's not letting me give likes for whatever reason. Any solution for that?
Think it's because you need an account to like. And Newpipe keeps you anonymous
