A few months ago the Australian government passed some new Media laws that say that Google and Facebook have to pay media organisations to post their content in Google News and Facebook news. Google is so outraged over having to pay for clickbait and fake news that they have had exclamation marks on their site for the last few months, and have tried to change the news code multiple times. They have even threatened to end google search in Australia if the laws are not changed.

Who knew the best way to hurt big tech was make them actually pay for the propaganda the MSM makes?

Divide and conquer.

Let them sulk. If Google was sent packing tomorrow I seriously doubt most of us would even notice or be inconvenienced in any dramatic way.

I wish I could live in Australia. It's such a blessing to not have Google in your country.

It's a nice place but an absolute nanny state. It's not only guns they banned, things like tanning beds are banned as well. If you're a smoker be prepared to pay $20US for a pack of smokes.

Please understand why tanning beds are banned in Australia, melanoma (skin cancer) is the 3rd leading cancer behind breast and prostate cancer.

And besides, it's fucking Australia. Why do you need a tanning bed when it's sunny 360 days of the year? Just step outside with some sunscreen for 5 minutes.

That's not the point, the point is it's not their job to tell you you can't put yourself at risk for cancer.

Mate I don't need the government to make my health decisions for me. I work 6-7 days a week underground in a tunnel, it's not as easy as you think

Australian government is forcing Goolag to pay for Australian news and media. They're pissed about it and threatening to block Aussies from accessing Google. I say bon voyage. Duckduckgo is just as good
