As a 'one off' this may be OK. Even a daily packed lunch may be OK. But that!!!

Not day in day out. That slop is an insult. If that was given to the homeless, there would be an uproar of complaints about the nutritional value.

How much time would it take to set up a mess hall. To arrange for logistics to transport HOT, DECENT Grub to the troops! Logistics are what THEY DO!

Shameful. Just shameful.

Of course. They'll blame COVID!!!

I think the point is, don’t agree to bring 25K troops into the Capitol without plans in place for feeding or lodging them. At the very least, can’t you temporarily expand the contract with the congressional dining facility to account for the troops? Or supply MREs, which are crap but at least hot?

They wouldn’t need to do this at all if they had just put them up in hotels... why that didn’t happen is beyond me. I assume they’re still getting paid per diem, but then, that might be cut if the Guard Bureau can claim that meals were “government provided.” So no money is being saved by the government here, but you are very likely destroying morale.

"destroying morale". Maybe that IS their ultimate plan? I wouldn't be surprised at all.
