This was during the first Dot.com boom, when I was moving from an actual broker to an online broker. Online brokers weren't even a thing a few weeks before. I can't remember for sure, but I don't think even Nokia smart phones were around at the time. I might have had a Nextel flip phone then so all phone, no apps.
E-Trade fucking blows. Their app is buggy as fuck and they charge for trades. No thank you.
In the time frame he's talking about, it was the only option. This was 20 years ago, man.
Dude... E-trade is still around, and it's like they haven't changed their app from the start. It's horrible, and they deserve to lose business.
I know, but it's not like he had a choice at the time.
I get it. I'm just saying to avoid it now ;)

Yeah, and it feels like E-trade didn't change since that day. It's embarrassing how bad it is.
Webull or RobinHood is the way to go. Ameritrade if you want to do OTC stocks, but that's straight up gambling.
I used to trade OTC stocks from pink sheets, which were pretty close to the tip sheets people sold at horse races.
Yeah, I made $500 in 1 day off a few hundred dollars. I sold then said "KThxBye"
