Oh yeah. This has been known for a few generations now. The way those in power stay in power is to have us bickering and fighting amongst ourselves and never become united. Remember the old saying? United we stand divided we fall . Well they have stayed in power passed their power down to their predecessors using that exact method. The issues we all fight over are contrived. Do you think liberal democrat politicians give one F about immigrants or gays or any other bleeding heart issue? Nope they could care less but they want you to think they do. The Power brokers at the top contrive these issues and they play both sides to pit us against each other. One group of them agree to be the advocates of conservative value and the other side agrees to be the advocate of liberal values and one side cannot tolerate the other.
The fact is there are virtues among some liberal ideas and virtues among conservative ideas but they split them so that if you are one you cannot share the virtues of the other.
There are some issues the right conservative side needs to drop and stop allowing the liberal side to be the advocates for. And those on the left need to adopt some conservative values .
We the people need to wake up and realize this and then and only then will we be united as a people . Think about it , the issues that so strongly divide us are so petty but they drive them in our psyche over and over again to where they seem monumental.
Republicans can you drop the whole bible thumping and moral authority? Can you stop being such prudes and let people smoke weed if they want? Can you stop hating on people who chose to live alternative lifestyles as long as they harm no one else?
Liberals can you stop with the whole "we got to defy everything considered normal" routine?
What we need to do as conservatives is start being more tolerant of others and show them the virtues of our ideas and bring them on board . But we must first be more approachable . Being Conservative has to be cool . Nobody wants to be an uptight prude. f
