Never use Chrome! Google is the devil

Chrome is open source. Brave uses the Chromium codebase and adds their idea of monetization. Dissenter (GAB), uses the Brave open source code-base and strips away the monetization. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Use Dissenter.

Chrome is NOT open source! It's a proprietary version of Chromium.

I meant Chromium. My bad.

I'm using Dissenter right now but the problem is that they are very slow to release updates which creates a security risk. For example, the Mac version was last updated in March 2020!

Not saying you're lying but are there any articles or something out there that prove this? All I found was this:

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/privacy/faq/#:~:text=Mozilla%20doesn't%20sell%20data,t%20buy%20data%20about%20you.&text=Mozilla%20does%20collect%20a%20limited,your%20name%20or%20email%20address.

"It seems like every company on the web is buying and selling my data. You’re probably no different.

Mozilla doesn’t sell data about you, and we don’t buy data about you."

https://spyware.neocities.org/articles/firefox.html

Can be disabled by a poweruser.

The main issue with firefox is mozilla - a stereotypical woke shithole. Unfortunately, letting firefox die would consign the entire world to the chromium engine which would be far worse for privacy.

Thanks for that.

When I installed it I went through about:config myself to remove references to Mozilla services, disabled those bundled add-ons like pocket and the screenshot tool, and telemetry and health report type stuff too but I bet I missed a lot.

Will go through this because fuck Google. There needs to be a completely separate competitor to Google- one that also isn't a fork of Chromium.

Just the above I dont trust it. Even if you switch to another search, inking deals with one of the top 2 most tyrannical companies is insane.

That article just tells me Google paid Mozilla to be the default search engine. Nothing about selling data or things like that.

The other guy posted a better article in his reply, but it also had steps you could take to disable it sending such data.

Perhaps using Brave would be better but I'm honestly not that concerned.

Do you like a browser that intends to program their browser to censor conservatives?

The Mozilla Foundation has publicly called for even harsher online censorship of wrongthinkers.

Opera is now a CCP-owned chromium fork.

Vivaldi is what the original Opera became.

I personally use Vivaldi, but it's far from perfect. And on top of that it's chromium based too.

2

Same shit. Opera is now based on Chromium which google controls. We're fucked basically.

No we aren't because if Google tries to seal off the Chromium project then there will be a fork of Chromium much like Linux Mint is a fork of Ubuntu. Chromium is true open source. I use Brave and Dissenter for my main browsing and I use Chromium and especially Opera to feed big tech misinformation.
