What does officially endorsed mean? I should be able to make an official looking campaign flyer telling people to throw their mail in ballots in the ocean and they’ll be counted, or so many other things. I’m not depriving them of their right to vote, I’m communicating bad information.
But ya, maybe we should limit “bad” information. I am sure the arbiters of what is “bad” will not use that to their advantage and will be wholly neutral.
Perhaps the third party company that acts as the soapbox in the public square can be the arbiter? I haven’t seen them abuse that position.

Being able to commit fraud has never been protected.

Fraud is the only problem here. Pretending it was officially endorsed.
Anyone falling for this should have no right to vote anyway, on account of excess stupidity.
