I think they rejoin Alberta. Really, the average Canadian is surprised to learn Alberta and Saskatchewan were to be a single province aka 'Buffalo' until Eastern politicians, with their keen forethought decided that would be too much land and too much political power.
My best guess is that Alberta and Saskatchewan 'reunite' and they can call it 'Buffalo' if they want but they will leave Canadian Federation and join a new Union.
