^This^ It's pretty decent but you don't get full access to all markets and stock. Trades are basically instant unless it's after hours though. Ameritrade does your trades at end of trading day regardless iirc of when you buy.
most online brokerages like you mentioned are pretty cheap to trade on around 6-7 bucks a trade) and the minimums are not too bad. If you are looking for something specific, like options, look up the brokers fees for each company.
I use E-TRADE. I would not consider them “a broker.” They have great bill pay, tax reporting and ease of use. You can trade before and after hours, use options, etc. They have a savings plan too. If you invest more than $100,000, you get a “personal” consultant. I’ve never used mine to do anything other than answer technical questions. But they pick up the phone themselves.

Schwab is pretty good imo
TradeStation has zero commissions right now.
