South African here - my girlfriend has lost 6 family members since August. I've lost 1. It seems as though once you go to hospital here, you'll probably never come out. Also, due to no visitation and limited telephone contact, you never know what's really happening inside. I must also admit, the people who passed on had comorbidities (blood pressure issues, diabetes, etc) and my girlfriend's mother passed away from a bug she caught in ICU while on a ventilator.
