3rd parties literally are designed not to work in our electoral college. The left has tried too, it just helps the other side. 3rd parties work for state government but not federal.
Ignoring the fact that more people would jump ship from Dems for that same third party.
Third parties have worked out fine as recently as the 50s. We need to purge this D/R paradigm. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results isn't working.
Third parties don't have electors and therefore will never win the electoral college, and since the popular vote is pretty much meaningless they can't win. Our government is a 2 party system so a third party won't work. It's just a distraction.
"Let's keep doing the same thing, it will surely work this time."
Our government has no parties. The DNC and RNC are corporations that peddle influence. Creating competition that people want to support will make them accountable. This is the only option which is viable.
It isn't viable. We are a two party system. I was all about this the first time Bernie was cheated but for this last election one of the major cheats was changing independent votes for Biden. Check out the 6 states that flipped at 4 am, there is a huge gap.
But again popular vote doesn't count so even if votes weren't rigged, third parties don't have electors. If you want a third party president you need to get electors. Also third party candidates need 5% nationwide to get into debates. And they can't get more than 3 or 4 states ever...
State governments can go third but the federal government isn't meant to.
Electors are selected by the legislature, not the political parties involved.
I know this is a hard concept for many, since they stopped teaching Civics and American History in school, but the electors are not affiliated with any political party. Saying that they are reveals a dangerous level of ignorance.
A third party sponsored by Trump right now would garner a third of the vote total (my estimation). Those would be votes sucked off from both the DNC and RNC. As more and more people find out how shitty both parties are, they will be elated to get into one that has a chance of fixing the problems caused by the elephants and asses.
Playing the game they set, by their rules, over and over and expecting a better outcome is insanity.

Indeed. Thus I'm telling you that this idea that we need a third party happens a lot on both sides but that it is difficult to get 3rd party candidates into debates or to get any media attention. Hell it's hard to get them on the ballot in every state. I understand that Trump would give a third party a huge platform but Trump said he won't be doing that.
I think Wyoming just elected a libertarian governor or something, I think that's cool. My cousin has been telling me to register libertarian for a while but I just stay independent because eff the system.

Didn't say it would be easy. I said it would be better than what we have, now.
