They invent a fake crisis, make up fake metrics, put their crosshairs on specific infrastructure or threats (remember cow farts?), leech away money to further consolidate power and enrich themself, short your company stock, get you fired from your job, then give that job to a person in a country who they can pay next to nothing to do it because their government doesnt give a shit and is willing to put out whatever numbers you ask for or that they want if it means investment in their country all while they print new money to devalue your currency while shorting the stock on it knowing it will move a fraction of a percent and grant them more profit in a day than your entire bloodline has earned throughout its existence all while they force you to stay home while they go get their hair done then go a party packed like sardines while they laugh about your misery with their friends and have every visual stimuli connected to the outside world youre still granted access to constantly reminding you how important it is that you be apathetic at having everything the last 5 generations of your family's labor is stolen from you.
