No. If the fairness doctrine had still been around there would’ve been no Rush Limbaugh. No conservative voices to counteract the juggernaut stranglehold the left had on the media.
Getting rid of it is a good thing. Allowing it enables THE FUCKING GOVERNMENT to control and disseminate and control speech.
Who do you think would be the one deciding it under this doctrine? It would have been a regulatory agency full of the likes of Harris and AOC, oh and they would not be elected by the way but appointed.
Bringing back the "Fairness Doctrine" won't help us. It will just insure our total enslavement to establishment narratives. There is a much better way to break up the establishment, and it can be done legally and ethically.
The over the air broadcast frequencies are inherently public property. The FCC was only supposed to exist frequency coordination. The over the air broadcast channels are permits to broadcasters which are held by five or six corporations, this is where everything went wrong.
It should be one locally based and independent broadcaster for each broadcast station where all the programing choices are the choice of only local staff. The stations themselves must be subject to public approval every one or two years.
And now the broadcast media has been returned to the public.
Government is the LAST people you want to be the arbiters of truth. The answer is NEVER more regulations and regulatory agencies stuffed by AOC's, the answer is removing governments ability to give favors to companies. Separation of business and Government is what we need.
No the fairness doctrine was very bad
Think “Affordable Healthcare Act,” “Patriot Act,” “Operation: Enduring Freedom,” “Social Security.”
All weasel words
Sorry but no. The news should be objective and that was the point of the FD.

Or 2012 when the Smith-mundt was repealed from the NDAA
Also the Smith Mundt act.
Thanks Obama!
In practice, it meant that if AOC gave an editorial statement on TV, it would have to be balanced by Mitt Romney.
Biggest mistake ever. Let's reverse that decision.
