Why is nobody talking about “biomass” “green energy” which is a fancy way of saying “wood fired power plant”?
Now I’m not actually against burning waste lumber efficiently in a power plant, generally speaking. Only problem is when they burn treated lumber improperly and emit stuff other than CO/CO2.
But let’s be honest here. Even if it is renewable energy (grow more wood), how the heck is this reducing carbon emissions? Carbon bound up in wood is burned and released.
The fact that this is considered green energy, even though carbon is released into the atmosphere when it wasn’t there before, absolutely proves that this is not about keeping carbon out of the atmosphere to reduce global warming.
It’s obviously about artificially reducing petroleum demand because 1) emissions are ignored in the biomass case and 2) emissions only seem to matter when it’s petroleum.
If this were not about control of petroleum then it wouldn’t be artificially restricted to petroleum like this.

^^^This.
Give it a fancy name like "biomass" and no one cares if you clear-cut forests and toss trees into furnaces.
