Honestly, I've read the Epoch Times, they're good info, they are clearly anti-China, but they tell you and try to be as fair as possible, which is 100 times better than most western journos. I'm also following ADV China and other youtubers turned investigative journalists, (they made some very interesting documentaries about China's contradictions), who actually went and lived there for years, they paint a very unflattering picture of China. That doesn't mean dissidents do not exist, they do, but they get memory holed incredibly effectively according to them, to the point that the average Chinese either doesn't even know those people exist, genuinely believes they just have to learn to deal with the government they have, because there is no changing it, or is a raging nationalist which believes China really is the best country in the world and actually every other government is just as authoritarian, we're just too blind to see it.
There is no dissident movement in China proper, and that's what I was saying is really sad, government seems super effective in keeping people who disagree from organizing even underground.
