Not only experts are flawed humans, he has to have faith in flawed journalists writing about science they get from flawed scientists. Flawed editors get in there also.

Exactly. I can't just give up on my friends because I actually do care about them but "it's easier to fool someone than to convince them they've been fooled"

My current idea is the antivax debate. Learn the science of both sides and try to explain that there's always science supporting each side of argumrnt

SCIENCE IS A PROCESS, NOT AN INSTITUTION

Big brain bonus: The same is true of the Press, and Religion

CrackinBallsCuh [S] 5 points ago +5 / -0

Absolutely. And as I have said elsewhere in this thread, the scientific method is an amazing tool to detect and eliminate bias.

but when it is tainted by corruption and people begin to trust the scientists without taking into consideration the actual science, it becomes a RELIGION.

A Cult

Maybe I'm semantically incorrect... But I think for the purpose of rhetoric, religion packs a harder punch for its intended purpose. Cult almost immediately sends people on their heels.

Religion implies a dogma or at least some consistent set of principles, where cults tend to be focused around power structure, manipulation, personality, and blind faith.

For rhetorical purposes you are probably right — cult has been driven off-road so much lately it’s lost a lot of tread in the tires.

There are only two genders.

Carbon is good for the environment.

Communism, Socialism, Fascism, Nazism, are all left wing ideologies.

You DO NOT put your faith in science "experts". You read their shit, look at the studies they cite closely, use your own judgement to come to a conclusion, and look for alternative views or dissenting scientists. Then once you have a more total picture you take responsibility and form your own opinion based on the totality of evidence before you. Hopefully including your own basic knowledge of science and the scientific method.

Your friend sounds like a mindless NPC too lazy to think for himself. Look at all the "experts" getting raped over GameStop right now. They were well educated finance people with experience and top notch credentials. People trusted them with billions of dollars, they had fancy government licenses, and drove fancy cars. Didn't mean shit did it? NOPE!

Ignoring your friend might make him snap out of his bullshit but most people never do. Be prepared to walk away for good. Many people will never wake up, they can't or they flat out refuse to. Many people never get sober from drugs. Not everyone can be saved.

Good luck and be best fren.

Agreed 100% and the same to you fren.

Science is not something you put faith in . Science is testing theories and either confirming them or ruling them out. Speak for yourself. Without science you wouldn't be typing this nonsense on a global communications network

Method of science is amazing and powerful, but there's humans and their agendas polluting it. From the scientific experiments, to the journalists that write about it. Also, the methodology of science also means that there's no settled science, because you must always try to disprove it. People who worship it can be lead in any direction, as every political debate you can find science for each side.

OP was not making a comment about science, but the worship of science

And it's important to note that a majority of the scientific study that goes on to be published in scientific journals are conducted in biased colleges paid for by biased financiers.

The tentacles of corruption at every level.

As Bret Weinstein explained... Science in and of itself is an ultimate tool for eliminating bias.

It is the politicization of science that has turned it into a religion.

The CDC and the WHO are bureaucrats. Funded by big pharma and politicians, they are more about pushing drugs and policy than anything regarding science.

They are basically a marketing tool, a propaganda machine meant to add a false veneer of credibility to a predetermined policy position. Science has nothing to do with it.

If you can't trust your bros to use common sense then they ain't your bros. There's a time and place for God. science and acting like the damned drunk ape we all are deep down..

I've tried to subtly expose him for over a year now... but nothing seems to work. Seems like the only option I have left at this point.
