I lived in a poor/white neighborhood and the city voted to build a landfill next to our neighborhood. People left quickly, property value plummeted, and it became a mostly black neighborhood. Then slowly Mexicans started moving in and more black/white people left. The Mexicans were always working and fixing the rundown houses to the point that property value began to rise, despite the landfill. And for the record, we voted against those asshole council members when their terms were up.
