I think this is click bait or misleading reporting. In any primary season, the National Committee must remain neutral because they are the organization conducting the election. They are a private Corporation which is free to institute rules for selecting candidates any way they deem fair. This is not constitutional process. In fact, many founding fathers opposed the idea of political parties. The RNC should and must not back any candidate until the primary process is complete. After, they should and must support the winner of that process.

Otherwise, you end up with a corrupt primary process. You end up like the DNC. And that's just embarrassing.
