Wondering if maybe they're even trying to screw Elon.

He's a talk the Left's talk, but he puts his money where his mouth is. He competes with Jeff Bezos on space stuff, and the FAA was pretty persnickety about permitting today ... where the previous flight under Trump's Administration's FAA Accomplished new milestones while the outcome was within the expectations. (It didn't stick the landing, it crashed & burned, but it was boggling progress all the same).

Yeah, Elon hates the funds that like to short.

Also, I'd put SpaceX as being the leader that everyone else is trying to compete with, including United Launch Alliance (i.e. Boeing and LockMart). Even when you have ULA having access to historic launch platforms as part of their inventory (i.e. Atlas and Delta) and no-compete bids for launches, I think SpaceX is still the platform to catch up to.

They're playing two different games.

"How can I package up what I want to do in a way to get the government to pay for it" is just wildly different from "Actual Engineering making direction decisions".

Outside of computers/internet, you can march along the fields and not find "Business school first" or "Lawyer/Financial guy first" in the actual deciding spots.

The livestreams/dailies from Boca Chica are pretty much "What the hell are the rest of you guys even spending your money on ?!?"
