Company is now letting all employees work remotely forever. So fucking done with Bay Area bullshit a d can go wherever I want. I share a fucking 2BR apartment that I could sell for $850k despite making around $250k/year. How the fuck does that make sense? It's almost paid off. I'm selling and leaving. Suggestions welcome. I'm thinking New Braunfels TX
Edit: My parents are elderly and mobility restricted so I want to go somewhere they can get a 1 story ranch home and never see snow. Trying to avoid biting bugs but can tolerate heat. Thanks.
Lots of neat little towns around Austin. Marble Falls, Horseshoe Bay, Burnet, and Fredericksburg come to mind. Laid back and near lakes/rivers.
Warning - many bugs (that bite) and lots of humidity. And small towns with generational residents that label anyone whose kin hasn't been there for 100 years newcomers.
Fly into Austin and drive around for a week or so.
The bugs are a problem. Anywhere in TX without biting bugs? I dont remember it being a huge problem when I lived in Austin or Tyler
I would think West Texas would have fewer biting bugs due to lower humidity.
If you've lived in Tyler and Austin and weren't bothered by the mosquitoes and yellow jackets, you'll be okay.
My Mother grew up in Orange County and relocated to the DFW Metroplex after she married my Dad. She hated bugs - chiggers, mosquitoes, yellow jackets, etc.
