No screaming horrible obscenities at me, no deportation, no violent incitement... And for two weeks of lurking before that! No violence or bullshit that wasn't immediately followed by ten others urging calm. Lots of frog memes and being angry about being ignored and silenced..
Far more people sharing ideas from underwhelming to insane and, get this, TALKING ABOUT IT

The most used word I see... Well one of the top 5 words I see is ...Sauce (which I have interpreted to mean source). Let that sink in..The "conspiracy theorists" are more worried about peer reviewed and verifiable information than everyone in DC and Media.
I laugh my ass off and learn shit everyday.. if I see something I don't agree with, I state an opinion. If I see something offensive? I fucking ignore it, because someone else's opinion isn't going to crawl through the fucking screen and attach itself alien style to my brain. (Can someone make a pepefrogfacehugger??)
Don't buy into some bullshit 50 50 split anything. It doesn't matter how people voted. 80% of the country just wants to go to work, mind their own business, and know they aren't going to wake up in the new red dawn movie. Regardless of who the president is or what side has been force feeding them lies.
The only plan is make everyone suspicious of everyone, so that when so and so is gone you say "I knew they were up to something nefarious" instead of "oh no they took so and so, I never agreed with them once but they always shovelled the snow out of my driveway, how was that a danger?"

I think our community is especially good at this because we care about the truth and we were expelled from the mainstream by a critical mass of toxicity.
We know first hand how damaging that behavior is for a world where the truth prevails. Our world here and now is one where the truth is frequently buried in favor of emotional reaction. We're all trying to defeat this trend, we simply can't tolerate it here. We can't stand to see it in ourselves.
I feel like lawmakers predominantly being lawyers contributes to this. Lawyers are judged on how well they can twist the facts to make themselves right, You don't go into the senate to get things done, you go into the senate to make sure the other guys get nothing done, and then you swear to your constituents it's the other sides fault nothing got done.
Even if you aren't corrupt to begin with, making 5 times the median wage completely disassociates your experiences from those of, you guessed it, more than half of your constituents.
I'd love to make 170k a year with pension and benefits swinging a hammer, but I guess no one on the Hill needs a fifth house right now
