They know they have worse things planned for the future and they saw the possibilities of what could happen if the masses arise like the did on Jan 6. They are scared.
Unfortunately I disagree. I believe that they are drunk on power and feel emboldened especially after they were able to steal an election where their opponent won in a landslide. They know that no one can stop them now. I expect things to get much much worse.
That's what I meant when I said they have worse things in store. They are definitely drunk on power, they are putting up a permanent fence to protect themselves from the general population as they enact their totalitarian policies.
That show of force on Jan 6 did scare them. not enough to make them question their actions but enough for them to realize they need a border to protect themselves as they go about the destruction of the US.
