I've learned so much about the stock market today! Like, what shorting is, what hedge funds do, how brokers and trading platforms work. So fun! So educational! The thought has popped into my head now- hedge funds.

-They make money when stocks fall, especially when they know companies will go bankrupt.

-They are predatory and try to encourage the bankruptcy of companies they target.

-They lobby the fuck out of D.C., both parties, and state governments. They are mind-bogglingly rich and have money to burn.

Ipso facto.... they were logically the main groups lobbying for shutdowns, no? Who had the most to gain?

I’m sure they did help but also certain companies also gained because they were allowed to be the only game in town. Amazon, Target, Walmart and so forth cleaned house during lockdown.
