Just to comment on Jonestown. Documentaries have come out that show many of those people did not want to drink the poison. There were armed guards who coerced them and also forbid anyone from leaving. It’s a very eye opening and mind changing report.

Toxic relationships and radiation are similar. The key to safety is time distance and shielding. Many relationships that were genuine and meaningful, have been turned toxic by the lies of our time. It's a tragedy, but it's also reality. Less time in contact, greater distance and something between you and the source will help a lot. Remember the good and love them from a safe distance. For the time being, while the radiation levels are high, time distance and shielding. Hopefully, at some point in the future, the radiation will die down.
I find solace in walking away before I do something that may prevent a return after things have calmed. It may never happen, it may happen in a few years or weeks. But I try to keep the bridges in place for a hopefully better future. Lost friends growing up to gangs drugs and other poorly chosen life paths. Didn't expect to be here again with functioning adults over politics, but that's the price we pay to live interesting times.
