You can use amazon to find products and read reviews, then lookup the vendors selling the item - very often you will find one that is an actual store. You then buy from them directly and cut Amazon out.
Example - I recently was looking for a particular book. On Amazon, I looked up each vendor selling that book - some were US based and a lot were overseas. The US ones I searched to see if they had a physical address. Thriftbooks was the most legit looking, had their own site, and I wound up buying more books with my order. Have gotten the books now.
A little more work, but worth it to starve the beast.
