The banks however were not denying loans on the basis of race, they were denying them on the basis of credit score tallies.

From that political stunt and morally bankrupt lawsuit, the banks were then required to make bad loans which came to be known as "Liar Loans".
This was the massive feeder mechanism for the derivatives market which the Democratic Party tried to pin the blame on when it was them that prevented the regulators from reining it in.
