Wrong answer. The right answer is "communism" and "there are no fucking rules".
Except the Securities and Exchange Commission regulates trading. This isn’t a “if you don’t like me pausing your stonk then build your own stonk trading” thing.
I think 9/11 ushered in some rules to freeze all trading, but a trading platform can’t pause your ability to trade for the benefit of the platform’s overlords.
But it also comes down to prosecutorial discretion. If Janet Yellen told them all it’s fine we won’t do anything, US attorneys work for Joe Biden. If they are told stand down, what can they do?
