Suffering is often the path to enlightenment and I do wish them that. If they do not gain insight it is their own issue. How does it go? "Never deprive anyone the gift of learning from their own mistakes"
Suffering is the best, and possibly only, teacher in life. Without suffering, it is almost impossible to open one's eyes. Wanting people to see through the lies without suffering borders on fantasy unless you use brainwashing techniques.
Only when made to suffer negative consequences for their actions do people start to consider that their actions were not good. That doesn't mean they need to be starved, beaten, tortured, or bankrupted, but some manner of pain is the catalyst to learning. The only other way to learn is through constant repetition, and learning is best when the process combines both.
I want them to experience the failed policies they keep pushing so they can wake up and stop believing the lies.
I want them to see through the lies being told to them too. I just do not wish suffering on those in order to gain this insight.

When a child does something stupid, the best way for them to learn not to do said stupid thing again is to suffer the consequences.
