Be careful not to fall into the left’s trap on this one. They’ve made a huge stink about third-world wages over the past decade because they have no idea how exchange rates and regional purchasing power work.

Sure, $0.20/hr is shit wages for Americans. But when converted to Bangladeshi Taka these women are now living a middle-class lifestyle in Bangladesh.

You always should have the full picture before passing judgment.

That being said Kaepernick is still an overpaid, underachieving asshole.

Fair point. But they have never been fair with their standards, so fuck em. I'm holding them to the impossible standards they set in order to destroy them.

This is a war without bullets(for now) start fighting to win

Yeah I can see your point. That being said, do the exchange rates apply to the massive % that Nike profits off the labor they use? I've never paid more then 50$ for a pair of WORK SHOES and people are paying upwards of 300, 400, or even 1000$ for a pair of Jordans.

And while yes I understand that there's a lot of logistics that need to get paid from shoes being made to sitting on a shelf. Though, wouldn't those costs be better spent on an American factory paying American families a livable wage? Which if not, then aren't we just going back to the fact that Nike is making a massive profit off of cheap labour?

Reminder, if a "American" private company does not have to abide by the 1st amendment, it doesn't have to abide by the 13th amendment either. Which means it is perfectly okay for "American" companies to own and profit from slaves so long as they don't do it in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the USA. So if Nike wants to operate sweat shops staffed by literal slaves then it's free to do so, just as long as it does it somewhere that the US doesn't have jurisdiction (like, for example, in China).

Feel free to use this argument against anyone that says "it's a private company, they can do what they want" the next time someone stupid says it's okay for companies to ignore constitutional amendments. Because if a private company can ignore one of them, it can ignore all of them, which means it's perfectly okay by their logic for private companies to own slaves and profit from slave labour.

To quote the 13th amendment in its entirety -

Section 1 - "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."

Section 2 - "Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation."

Imagine all the mechanized industrial production tech we would've developed if dirt cheap overseas slave labor wasn't an economically viable alternative. Same goes for farming equipment. The Japanese are way ahead of everyone else on mechanize farming because they've managed to restrict access imported cheap labor.

When we outlawed slavery, farming technology got way better.

Well to be fair they don't have much arable land and are still dependent on food imports to feed their people, so they have every motivation to improve farming techniques.

They do very well with what they've got. They produce over 500 lbs per person annually of the big 3 grains.

LeBron James and Michael Jordan need their money.

How dare anyone mention that slaves have funded their lives, funded it bigly.

LeBron, Jordan, so many others, they hate Americans so much. Both have said how they hate White Americans. The bigger point is they hate all Americans. The amount of jobs in the USA they could have provided, just by making a few tennis shoes in the USA instead of Asia, and they would still be so rich they would not notice any real difference.

When you are scamming the low-IQ buyers into getting $500 tennis shoes, the profit margin is so large that the shoes can easily be manufactured in the USA.

Higher wage costs, but lower transportation costs. They would also be known as people who create jobs for their communities, instead of being known as those who have profited off slavery for many decades.

.

At least they get to wear nice yellow hats.

These companies do the same thing the politicians do, they either blame someone else of doing the thing they're doing, or they claim they're the ones fighting against the very thing that they are doing.
