  1. you have to MAKE SURE you plug it in overnight or you're fucked in the morning.
  2. If you go on a long drive, once the battery is dead you have to wait hours for it to charge back up to drive more.

but muh environment...

Imagine all the pollution from led-filled batteries when they go dead after 7 to 10 years of use.

GM's issue here is they have no battery production, or even plans to build some.

EV growth and practicality is 100% constrained by batteries, and if you have no plan for that, your fucked.

you can bitch about Elon/Tesla all you want, but they are currently the only auto maker to have massive manufacturing for batteries, and are building more all the time, as well as arguably having the best battery tech available.

For the last 5+ years all the analysts go on about the big car co's being able to easily push Tesla out with their decades of auto manufacture, however, none of them have come close yet, ironically, the best out there is Kia.

GM and Ford are fucked, they might not realise it yet, but they are.

VW group has seen the light (eventually!) and are working hard on it, Merc/BMW are still pontificating, Jaguar/LR are dead men walking, etc etc.

The Japs are still fucking about, Honda have finally realised Hydrogen is a non-starter, and Toyota are beginning to realise the hybrid route is a blind alley.

in the meantime, Tesla are growing exponentially, with margins the rest of them can only dream of.

You dont get to be the richest man in the world by being a moron.
