I spent 6 months in kuwait/Iraq in 2003... there was an oil well that burned the entire time I was there. Black smoke all day long. It was some sort of relief well and they just burned it. Also we got our oil on our vehicles changed by the TCNs. They dumped our used motor oil right there on the sand.
