They are and my point is that societal willingness to dumb down language to an excessive degree, has contributed to them doing it.

It was not an uncommon experience growing up to be the only kid in class who could read out loud properly.

I remember back before all the "woke" madness began and people started responding to single paragraphs with "tldr" and that's where I really started to notice how much people actually struggle with English.

I'm not talking about being a grammar Nazi or writing cold, jargon fuelled "college" English either.
