Working on a greenhouse. I've been wanting chickens but haven't had time between full time job and greenhouse. Also got solar panels, charge controller, batteries and inverter that I haven't got set up yet, I want to be able to run my well pump if for some reason I can't get electricity service anymore.
We got chickens 3 months ago, easy to care for, basically take care of themselves. Just a bit of work making the coop and setting it up so shit don't murder them.
Even better, live on a flowing body of water. Let nature raise the meat for you. You just have to hook it when needed. Raising meat animals is actually labor and land intensive. Plus, if someone or some animal kills one of your cows you're fucked.
Get chickens and start a garden, acquire the means of production.

Good move if the water table will allow.
Make sure you get good egg layers.
"The pump don't work because the vandals took the handle"
I was just going to say, this kind of food you only eat one time and it's gone. Grow a garden raise some meat. You eat for life.

Have fun on your boat. That has it's own challenges now doesn't it?
