Good, keep working till it's done and you have redundant systems to make sure. Water is life. You can live for a long time with no food. Without water you die hard fast. Do you have room to plant a large enough garden to feed everyone in the family?
I have 2 acres, but trees cover half of that. Been thinking about clearing more land. I live alone, so only family I have are parents and a brother who live 45 minute away.
Soil isn't all that great. After building my house, a lot of red clay got mixed into the top soil. Even grass has a hard time in certain places. My greenhouse is 20' x 16' and I'm in the process of building raised beds to plant in. I'll probably need to buy some soil for them or something.
Get some topsoil brought in if you need. In the mean time look up hay bale gardening on YouTube. This will give you some decent yields until you can build some decent soil up for your beds. Use the compost from the bales to make the soil richer. You can also look up hugelkultur to build up your beds for the long haul. here is one source with pros n cons of these methods.

Greenhouse should cover you. How's the soil? Are there deer that pass through your land?
