Funny thing is my household knew about HCQ before Trump mentioned it - my wife watches Medcram. I think it was in late Nov 19 the Chinese came to the conclusion that Chloroquine Phosphate might be useful. Then the Koreans manually went through 1100 drugs and determined that Chloroquine and Hydroxychloroquine might be useful. The French concluded the same. The CDC identified 11 drugs that might be useful: HCQ and quercetin were on that list. All of this happened before Trump mentioned it as a solution.
