It a wrapper for YouTube so that Google doesn't receive nearly as much information about the viewer. Best to push content creators to alternative platforms like PeerTube Instances (video.maga.host and similar), Odysee (distributed), d.tube (distributed), bittube.app (distributed), Bitchute (Centralized but not censorious).
Invidious is pretty cool though along with nitter and bibliogram. Starve the platforms of data as that is what they truly crave.
