Not true. I want to see Trump on the newly reissued $ 1,000 note. At the very least, on the newly reissued $ 500 note. Or, I am willing to compromise... Trump on the thousand, Melania on the five hundred. This way we get a woman on a US banknote, which seems to be very important to the left.

There was a 500 EURO note.

They took it out of circulation because it made it easier to facilitate activities the government doesn't like.

The $500 bill and higher are not coming back. We might be lucky to hang on to the $100.

Without it higher denomination bills, more people would be forced use traceable credit and debit cards. Besides targeting unlawful activities, card transactions have been used by governments to increase tax collection (Canada, Greece) and can be used to enforce prohibition after the fact by reviewing past purchases at certain stores, or in some cases, the line-item transaction data is available.
