Yes and no. I knew a girl that couldn't pass a test unless she was high mainly due to the fact that she studied high (that was her reasoning).
Marijuana abuse makes you lazy and while I agree that it isn't chemically addictive, it is clearly addictive based on hormone releases in the brain. There are some people that cannot operate without marijuana because they've smoked it for so long that without it they are a mess. But results vary.
Some people can smoke a cigarette once and be addicted for life (me). Other people can socially smoke and have no cravings ever.
I knew a woman in the 80's that could snort coke at parties as if it were no big deal. Never got a addicted. Her friend did cocaine once and it spawned a life deteriorating cycle of addiction that ruined her.
