GENERALLY, the higher the stock price is, the more appealing it appears to investors and for them to give them money since high stock prices typically mean a good ROI. However, the stock is being artificially driven up. Investors aren't going to give AMC money. They know the stocks are being shorted and people are building up the stock price to ensure the hedge fund companies go bankrupt from shorting the stock since they HAVE to come up with the stocks for the bank. Which means, they HAVE to purchase the inflated stocks from people at whatever the stock price is when the loan comes due (probably a month from yesterday).

Right now, AMC is vulnerable for the reverse of that, becoming forced to sell back, because right now chinese do NOT own a 50% stake in the company, so if enough of us buy it we can force a vote for new reps and then force a vote to buy.
Secondly, buying AMC stock from other stock holders does not automatically make a AMC money. That is not how stocks work. Again please educate yourself before making ignorant comments or fuck the hell off.
AMC stock had to be bought because the attempted shortsale on AMC would have covered the losses they incurred from being squeezed out of GME. If the AMC stock wasn't bought up, the hedge fund would have shrugged off the losses from GME and continued business as usual.
So buying AMC serves two purposes. It serves to squeeze out the hedge fund's backup plan, primarily, and for some of the buyers it's an attempt to force the company to be sold off by the chinese.
The point isn't really to boost AMC as much as it is to leave the riggers holding a very expensive bag at the end of the trading. The exposure massively short positions that the vulture capitalists are taking is the very best way to spank them. The company while I like having movie theaters isn't the essence of this deal. This is a way to level the playing field for all Americans for everyone that wants to invest in capital markets without being cheated.
