My Dad wants me to give him Power of Attorney and then give him the paperwork. I own my own home. Would that give him power to sell it right from under me if he wanted to. What nefarious (if someone wanted to be) things can someone do with a power of attorney. I appreciate your time.

Sounds like he only helped you to get his hands on your home. Don't do it. You do not owe him anything unless you signed a written contract with witnesses and notarized. If you don't have a contract for what money he helped you out with, you do not owe him anything.
