Yup, that's one of the things that was predominant throughout Trump's admin. I'd frequently read/watch more leftist/MSM bullshit than I did right because it gave me insight into what the bullshit propagandists were peddling. Then I'd compare what they said/reported on to what Trump and his admin said and it was like night and day bullshit vs. truth.
I actually lost an aunt over that. It was when Trump was talking about the light tech that could feasibly kill COVID inside you "like bleach," prompting all the leftists (like my aunt) to claim Trump was telling us to inject bleach. When I hit back with both the text transcript and direct WH video of the briefing, in which it was obvious Trump never said that, my aunt told me to "open [my] eyes and ears to the truth."
I got a group to pass a no politics rule once I did exactly that with the vaccine story. I kept quiet when members would chat dumb politic lies. One day showed clear evidence the users opening their mouths on politics were NOT fact checking before talking. All of a sudden, no more politics. Which is fine by me.
I got told, when I showed someone the truth, that it was "something he would say" so was still valid. Remember when "truthiness" was something they tried throwing our way?

Uh, yeah bitch. I did.
