its not about the oven door. its about the shower/gas chamber door. that contemporary gas chamber doors looked more like submarine hatches. not to mention the strength of said door too. supposedly keeping back hoards of people trying to get out.
I've had people argue that was good enough, lol. I suppose it might be for a short time, but wood is porous and you can paint it and stuff but it will wear through.
