I finally scored my Garand last summer. Went down to my FFL to pick up an A1 receiver set for a 20" retro build I was doing and he had a '44 Springfield Armory on his back wall. The stock had a lot of battle chatter in it but the receiver, barrel and action metal was pristine. At $800 it was a steal. I had him toss it on the 4473 right then and there.
OP, go to ammogarand.com and get you some pre-packed 48-round bandoliers and order a small pile of AP blacktips while you're at it. Good times.
Definitely needs new synthetic stock with lots of rails and attachments like red dot and magnifier, flashlight, flip up sights, bipod, extended mag, camo paint, binary trigger, three-point sling, flash hider with threads for mounting suppressor, /s
BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM Ping!
Came here for the ping. Was not disappointed.
Just keep a few extra around.
Occasionally, toss one up in the air...and watch to see if anything tries to take advantage of the fact that your gun is supposedly empty.
Kudos Young Sir!
I love hearing the ping at the end! One of the best sounds in the world!

Thatβs be like putting 24β rims and a gay paint job on a 69 Camaro. This one is staying stock.
Huh ??
All I suggested was buying ammo lol
My bad friend. I responded to the wrong comment. It was meant for the person suggesting a synthetic stock and stuff.
This ones had the trigger housing replaced or was built with a Winchester trigger housing. Hammer and all other parts on the gun are Springfield
Grandpa knows. He has seen similar scenarios to todays. Beautiful weapon.
"...the greatest battle implement ever devised.β
Will do. I remember loosing a thumb nail when I was 8. I learned what M1 thumb was and how not to get it real quick.π
Its a shame you are taking her on fishing trip, would be terrible if she fell over the side somewhere in the middle of the lake.
Don't go where I was, water is so rough, it shook everything out of the boat. Tragic loss.

Its a very nice rifle.
I love the way an M1 sounds when fired. It's unique to this particular rifle model. It's a hard metallic "clank" that you will never forget.
Great Rifle!
Wholesome
Great family heirloom and tradition!
The gun that won the war.
You got a keeper there buddy. PING!

Awesome rifle. What are the girls waiting for though?
I love my M1 but it will literally break my thumb some day. The things we do for love β€οΈ
So is it 30-06? Or .308?
30-06. Serial number on the receiver dates June 1943
Oh how wonderful
Very Nice !
I'm absolutely jealous
EVERY FAMILY NEEDS A MINIMUM OF ONE GREAT GUN.
