Trump should have done it a lot sooner and not cave in to their demands. He has a lot of time to tell the truth to the American people. But he didn't do it. He waited for things to get worse before he speaks the truth.

If they can find him guilty of inciting insurrection the can try and bar him from holding public office per the 14th amendment.

It is a political “trial”; it need not follow any laws. Trump knows that facts do not matter in this trial; what matters is the public opinion.
