You can’t short squeeze the physical market with the paper market. They will not settle the contracts with physical silver. They can substitute it with cash. This has been tried before and failed for that very reason...and...they can print all of the SLV they need to suppress the price.

While I figured as much, can you demand physical? Or do they have clauses in the contracts to settle with cash? I think people don’t realize there are already way more silver shares in the market than physical silver that exists in circulation.

I don't believe you can take physical delivery with slv, at least not easily. Every ETF is different though. Comex futures contracts are deliverable, but we are talking about 5000 oz increments. Buying physical from local or reputable online dealers is the easiest way, though the premiums are higher.
