It's crystal clear to me that they are trying to replace us with an immigrant labor force that doesn't challenge their power. There is no doubt in my mind that they are capable of, and actively pursuing, mass extermination.
They've been working on this plan for a long time, but didn't have the technical capability of pulling it off. The ability to automate a lot of production also reduces their need for slaves who might one day rise up against them.
