Well there are real ideological differences, but rather than being represented by two political parties the parties are more interested in political realism while they just try to exploit the political idealism with theatrics.
Just look at the section 230 stuff. Lots of hearings where people make a show of opposing censorship, then they just do nothing when it comes time to write legislation and vote on it.
If more people can figure out that some pie in the sky ideology isn’t going to solve their problems, since it will be used to exploit then ignored, and start thinking in strategic terms like “what does everyone need to do to make this happen?” then some things can change.
The question is whether those changes are being made right now. In some ways, it sure seems like it. The fact that the tyrants aren't even hiding it anymore is waking more people up.
