In one railroad. He owns a big chunk of BNSF. Union Pacific, Canadian National and Canadian Pacific also connect Canada to the US; CN owns the former Illinois Central from Chicago to New Orleans. CP sends traffic to the east coast through Maine.

BNSF doesn't really reach much east of the Mississippi and other carriers, CSX and NS, haul it the rest of the way.
